Welcome to my outdoor blog

Welcome to Backcountry Bitts.  This content is about my passion for outdoor activities that get me outside for extended periods (or short periods) of time.  I’m excited to share my knowledge and experiences with you in hopes that it will inspire you to “get outside!”

Get Started With Extended Outdoor Adventure

Here’s the problem

Outdoor adventure is fun and exciting, but not always attainable for us normal people. I mean, who hasn’t looked at an amazing photo and said, “Wow! I wish I could hike the Grand Canyon, climb that mountain, or spend some time in nature away from my busy life.” Who hasn’t looked at today’s great adventurers without wondering, “How do they have so much time (and money) to do that?” How many of us want to through-hike the 2190 miles of the Appalachian Trail, but can’t take off 5-7 months to do it? How many of us haven’t wandered through an REI store longing for the outdoors?

I’ve thought of those same things, all while being a once a year 7-day adventurer and weekend mountaineer…

Heck, your desire for freedom doesn’t even have to be for outdoor adventure. Maybe you want to take several months off before starting that new dream job. Maybe you want to travel the country by RV, or maybe you just want some time to contemplate your next career move. Or, possibly you want to get really crazy and move to Argentina for a period of time to practice your Spanish, enjoy the food, and learn Argentine Tango! By the way, Argentina is where the Cerro Torre and Aconcagua, one of the Seven Summits, are located.

I’ve found the solution

These activities require A LOT of free time. Many of us just don’t have the time required while working a traditional job, providing for ourselves and our families. I’m learning a new set of skills; skills that will provide more time and an income even when I’m out on the trail. I’d like to share what I’m learning with you. You too can have the time you deserve while earning the income you need to achieve your dreams.
